Quoted in the Grove:
No one who cannot rejoice in the discovery of his own mistakes deserves to be called a scholar.
~Donald Foster
Mistakes are part of the dues that one pays for a full life.
~Sophia Loren
Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it’s a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.
~Al Franken

A quiet week in the grove. Not a lot to report, and still a newsletter to put out. An editor might be expected to have a file of backup material, informative fillers, or interesting plug-ins to use in times of famine … but no. Events and personalities of the grove normally provide rich soil for comment. This editor’s addition of fertilizer usually gets the job done, but not this week
It seems a good time to wander off the well-trod and play with a bit of fancy, something speculative. Suppose, as an instance, that a forum for poetry readings and storytelling were to materialize in the same place where music lived. In the normal course of entertainment, performers feed on audience response. It is a way of getting back for sharing out. It is fair exchange. It is this magically performing loop of the stage and its audience that makes everything work. Electrically, it’s a completed circuit
What might an audience give back to performers in There that’s more than ’clap and ’cheers and ’yay? What’s available that’s rowdy and raucous, loud and fun that says ’yay in a big way? Funnily enough, the beverage that gets you in the mood is also the means of celebrating the stars you see on stage. Yessir. You drink your elixir of choice in There and all sorts of noise and weirdness happens. Ma’am, you drink that potion when the music stops, and they will know you were listening and liking what you heard
This is not new. But if OnStage @Wordgrove East takes on life, this editor would like to see audience members take out a Triple or Extreme drink of choice at the beginning of each show, and drink up after each performance. (Hot Blues makes a nice racket for applause – Yowza!) Drinks could be provided for those without
Imaginings. Suppositions. Possibilities. These fevered ramblings have served their purpose. They filled space. This editor is interested in feedback, however. Hypothetically, because this is speculation, but are performers interested in this kind of boisterous appreciation of their work? Has this generated enthusiasm in other venues? What else might be done to poke this thing into life?
Please. Your thoughts aren’t just welcome, they are being actively sought. Your idea might be the reason for the success of OnStage. If so, then you get the credit. Wordgrove likes to recognize good ideas and contributions with generous praise

It is a significant day for some believers. The following duet is a repeat from the archives: Chris Botti and Lucia Micarelli performing with trumpet and violin: Emmanuel, a prayer without words
