Quoted in the Grove:
An epigram often flashes light into regions where reason shines but dimly.
~Edwin P. Whipple
I must claim the quoter’s privilege of giving only as much of the text as will suit my purpose, said Tan-Chun. … If I told you how it went on, I should end up by contradicting myself.
~Cao Xueqin
I shall never be ashamed of citing a bad author if the line is good.
~Seneca
End quote:
It is better to be quotable than to be honest.
~Tom Stoppard

An idea that’s been idly kicking thru the leaves of Wordgrove for the past while may have found someone willing to bring it in out of the cold. Greenie has agreed to feed it, spend time with it, train it into something that others will enjoy. It involves talent. Yours
You’ve got it. It’s something you have fun with in RL. You write poems, stories, songs; you sing, you recite, you play the accordion … all you need is an eager audience. You’ve got it!
Coming up, a chance to have fun onstage, to be cheered and recognized. Staged @Wordgrove East, the first show is scheduled for the 1st or 2nd Friday of May, 6pm PT/9pm ET. Event title to be determined
A Wordgrove venue naturally features the written word, but music is even more universal in its ability to communicate. Musicians of There, please take note of your welcome. Needed: someone with Shoutcast station and experience to help broadcast for better listening. Please contact Greenie or BarTalk with questions, suggestions, offers of help

Prewritten: chiffon, orchard
~Greymane: Trying Not to Scream
Trapped in day-to-day, looking for the freeway exit off; the past a body of failure, the present rotten too, but there’s hope, a home that waits; the bed’s a grave, the sleep’s first rate when all else has fallen thru
~Piffin: haiku (qif)
Plantation chiffon
Southern hospitality
Noose in the orchard
~BarTalk: Chapter 7 ~ Becoming
~
Impromptu: dance, dreams
~Piffin: untitled (quoted in full)
Breathe as though it matters
Dream like dreams come true
Dance like they’re all watching
And your clothing is see-through
Laugh like life is funny
Cry like someone cares
Give a stranger money
But please don’t feed the bears
~Greymane: Keeper of Dreams
Not a succubus that would sleep with men, but a temptress; a fugitive by day, a tease by night, a source of horror, but not of hope; those are the dreams of day, of hands and plans and work
~BarTalk: not-a-haiku

~Greymane @Greyed Escape: Incandescence
The flame that throws a light, also lights a fuse; a hellish history becomes experience that’s great for future use
