Quoted in the Grove:
A healthy male adult bore consumes each year one and a half times his own weight in other people’s patience. ~John Updike
The man who lets himself be bored is even more contemptible than the bore. ~Samuel Butler
Boredom is the feeling that everything is a waste of time; serenity, that nothing is. ~Thomas Szasz

Wordgrove would like to welcome new members: Namron, OdileC, ArcticRose, Stejovis
Except for Stejovis, all are musicians who play individually and together in There. It is a particular pleasure for this editor (not a musician, but one who needs music), to welcome this important language to Wordgrove. Perhaps a concert can be arranged
A new Tally sign has been raised near Writers Platform and it is for the use of those who would like to see their poetry featured large. Altho best suited for the tally poem, any short verse (using the diagonal (/) to designate new lines) is acceptable. Please use this opportunity to share your work in a new way with others. Contact me or leave a scroll at the sign with your submission. More information is available in a scroll at the base of the sign
A note concerning the posting of this newsletter to WordPress: Since this will be the complete edition readily available to everyone, with overdue drops and updates to include, a late edit will go into it before it goes online. This may be hours later in the same day. The book edition on Writers Platform will be available soon after the club mail goes out
This week’s music video features an artist dwarfed by his creation and his vision that towers over him. While visually arresting, the music is gentle behind it, good for a Sunday afternoon. Suggested by TelMeggido (not of There), who otherwise prefers his music to be neck-snapping or throbbing

@Writers Platform:
Library Table:
~Piffin: Three Cigarettes (WGP&R 10/07/12)
~BarTalk: In Pursuit of Music, parts i & ii (from archives)
Prewritten: fish, custard
~Piffin: Where Pirates Lie Dreaming
A frolicking love poem with bold buccaneers and stampeding sharks; gambols with wordplay, gets frisky with a mermaid in undersea sex
~BarTalk: something fishy here
Impromptu: pious, subtle
~Piffin: Fire on the Sea
The dueling field this time is the sea of self. With dual desires for the adventures of freedom and an inborn craving for inner peace battling each other; lashed together, they drift exhausted and nibble each other into symbiotic oblivion
~BarTalk: Bullets and Beer
~Greenie breaks new ground by bringing her poetry to the stairwell of Writers Platform; on the bird fountain:
Haiku Moon – The Moon as a bowl for collecting stars for compounding into wishes

Writers in Residence: This is the Post & Review’s Perimeter edition, featuring the outlying PAZs of west Wordgrove
~Whitefeather @The Writers Sanctuary: With abundant wild life, porch and patio space, this haven blends the view from a hillside overlooking WG with the sunset palette she uses to color her sky. Beth’s aerial retreat matches any cabin by the lake as a tonic for inspiration
~Stejovis @Meditatio: Visually rich and overflowing, but the words in his one drop are spare and precise. In his own words:
For Contemplation
words: // Nature sends messages // without them
~VirtualJester @The Thought Tree: Roots Resurrected – A seedling from his childhood grows into its arboreal adolescence becoming Jester’s Thought Tree, his place for reading, resting and ruminating. Trees and abutting walls are mortal enemies however, and aesthetics has no defense against utility. Years later, the enduring loss of his reading companion finds a remedy in There and Wordgrove. Jester has a message board out; stop by, say ‘hi and leave a thought of your own
~FrankyNoob @Faith Re-Tree-it: A place of nurturing in a spiritual way; requires ascending a tree to access its offerings
Autumn Rains
An introduction to the book, Cottage Quotes, which provides daily lessons, some of which will be used here and in his online blog (link provided) as a starting point for his own thoughts
Next week: East side Perimeter PAZs, with an exciting new music video provided by you!
