Quoted in the Grove:

One must be drenched in words, literally soaked in them, to have the right ones form themselves into the proper patterns at the right moment.
~Hart Crane

The writer must be able to revel and roll in the abundance of words; he must know not only the direct but also the secret power of a word. There are overtones and undertones to a word, and lateral echoes, too.
~Knut Hamsun

To speak of “mere words” is much like speaking of “mere dynamite”.
~C J Ducasse

Making ‘words’ the theme of this week’s quotes provides an opportunity to reintroduce Anu Garg’s, A Word A Day (AWAD) to readers of the WP&R.  AWAD has been described by the New York Times as, “The most welcomed, most enduring piece of daily mass e-mail in cyberspace.”

Each daily email contains a language-stretching, sometimes exotic word. Sometimes it’s a word you merely thought you knew. With each day’s word, there’s the additional gift of an unrelated quote. Readers may recognize some of these quotes in this newsletter. If not already following, click on the link below for the day’s example, and a chance to join. If you love words, it’s a treat you owe yourself

Despite the summer hiatus, a few people have joined Wordgrove and we’d like to welcome them. BlueAnn, verykerry, amgaux, Rainbownoir and craftnrider1, welcome to Wordgrove. We have Monday meetings for the curious few who are seriously interested in writing. We meet at the Platform in Wordgrove. Meeting time is: 5pm PT, 8pm ET

If new members are curious about the club, you’ll find reviews, quotes, club news in our newsletter, the Wordgrove Post & Review. You can find past editions online as a blog

~BarTalk: Absinthe and Badge – #8 Mission Creep

Writers in Residence:

~Daisy253 @Daisy Field
Welcome to Daisy Field
One of the first in WG, Daisy welcomes her visitors by introducing herself; all the dignity, wit and warmth of Daisy-before, since battle tested by young motherhood; the welcome return of a Nutter old-soul

Nearly perfect moments pass, winding down at the end of the day; just seconds for a glance, a kiss, a moment for tucking in, extra moments to visit the grove; that delicious feeling of being tired just-before-bed and writing the moment, at home in Daisy Field
